SAIC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support SAIC production and manufacturing in support of the Department of War (DOW).  

This position:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. 
  • May design arrangement of machines within facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. 
  • Will estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. 
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. 
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. 
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. 
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. 
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. 
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. 
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations including Manufacturing Bill of Materials. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: HS grad and five (5)+ years of manufacturing experience. 

  • Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques, especially on cables, cable harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical enclosures. 
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. 
  • Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives. 
  • Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies. 
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. 
  • Works under general direction on routine work. 
  • May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. 
  • Follows established procedures. 
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. 
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. 
    • Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources. 

 

Preferred experience: Ten (10)+ years related to cable manufacturing experience.
