Job Description

The HVAC Programmer at SpaceX works in a fast-paced environment, where the extraordinary becomes the everyday. The HVAC Programmer develops and integrates new and or existing applications into the technical infrastructure and existing business processes. The PHVAC Programmer will create and provide a complete programming package to the System Manager/Team. The package includes, but is not limited to, a Sequence of Operation, Virtual Points, pre-tested programming, and onsite Functional Test for assigned projects. This will involve training the technician team on how to interact with the control systems and overall helping improve all controls and automation for critical systems at the Bastrop facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up processes to write all programs and virtual points
  • Work in conjunction with engineers, environmental control system/HVAC lead, and/or manager in order to produce controller and graphical software
  • Incorporate third-party software into the design of building Environmental Control Automation Systems
  • Identify and obtain the necessary components to network the building automation system workstations
  • Configure the software necessary to network the workstations
  • Set-up virtual and/or physical test system to test all programming prior to release to the field
  • Create functional test checkout sheets to be included in Specialist checkout books
  • Provide technical support before, during and after system installation
  • Provide recommendations to both engineering and technical teams as to how to make the Environmental Control Automation Systems more reliable
  • Provide in-house software support and assist in maintenance of existing system software
  • Provide onsite assistance at critical facilities with functional testing as required
  • Perform administrative duties such as expense reports, documentation of detail issues and time spent on tasks within work order system, writing weekly reports, acquiring vendor quotes, submitting purchase orders, etc

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience programming HVAC controls
  • 3+ years of experience with HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical systems and control systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree
  • 1+ years of vocational technical training preferred
  • Specialized skill training/certification
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • 4+ years Johnson Controls, Andover Controls, or Siemens Controls
  • 4+ years Required license or certification
  • Willingness to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed
  • Detail oriented, organized, and demonstrates a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to work autonomously

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed, based on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Ability to provide on-call support in emergency situations
  • Occasional travel may be required based on specific projects; travel requirement is up to 15%
