WORKPLACE TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)

As a member of the Workplace team, you will help design, build, activate and maintain some of the world's most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will be able to operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, excel at managing multiple projects at a time and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a Workplace Technician, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology. You will work with other infrastructure engineers, technicians, and internal customers to support these goals and have the opportunity to drive real global impact, ultimately leading to making life multiplanetary. The position is based in Bastrop, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine building maintenance tasks such as assembling furniture, painting touch ups, door adjustments, minor wall repairs, replacing ceiling/flooring tiles and carpeting.
  • Aid janitorial and hospitality staff with general requests for support including moving furniture, racks/equipment, disposing of garbage using forklifts, set-up and tear down of special event areas.
  • Take furnishing, furniture, and equipment layout and arrange according to plan/direction.
  • Perform inspections and repairs of interior and exterior areas to include walls, floors, fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting.
  • Perform site cleanup, landscaping, pest control, and maintain interior office/factory cleanliness.
  • Support facilities in light demolition and basic construction.
  • Open, track and resolve electronic work tickets on SpaceX systems.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Read, interpret and understand technical language in specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Operate a forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, boom lift, work truck, and overhead crane.
  • Perform building and grounds inspections, restock supplies, and advise leadership concerning inventory needs.
  • Perform regular basic preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities to detect faulty operations or equipment.
  • Oversee projects, repairs and services.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, use of MS Outlook and Teams.
  • Produce high quality work independently and efficiently, without supervision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience installing modular furniture systems, corporate or commercial furniture, major moves, or repair work.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ year of facilities, maintenance, or construction experience.
  • Familiar with space planning procedures and operations.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Self-motivated, works well with others and autonomously.
  • Ability to perform finish carpentry tasks, such as door installation and framing, drywall repair, cabinetry.
  • Experienced or certified with product lines such as Knoll, Teknion, or Allsteel.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to generate service reports and communicate within the company including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs.
  • Possesses a good attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, and is a self-starter.
  • Demonstrates a consistent record of punctual schedule adherence.
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Work hours depend on site priorities and may require overtime hours, weekends and holidays; flexibility required. Strong attendance and adhering to the work schedule is essential function of the role.
  • Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, wind, rain.
  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Able to work at elevated heights (up to 150 feet), including the use of ladders and/or stairs.
  • Must have a valid TX driver's license.
  • Up to 10% travel.
