Job Overview:

Manages various EHS programs to ensure compliance with metals recycling/scrap, hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste (e.g., used oil and absorbents), and wastewater treatment systems for both Terre Haute, IN locations.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Drives constant EHS compliance with an emphasis on environmental tasks.
  • Technical duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Maintaining good housekeeping in scrap building, hazwaste building, wastewater, etc.
    • Daily scrap management
    • Conduct various inspections in compliance with GE standards and regulatory schedules
    • Coordinate with vendors to schedule disposal of scrap and waste
    • Track waste accumulation dates
    • Calibrate EHS equipment and devices
    • Conduct daily operations involving the wastewater processes
    • Conduct training for forklift operations, confined spaces, line breaking, and advanced electrical
    • Complete and retain all relevant documentation/records
    • Complete all required trainings relevant to position
  • Collaborate with peers and support staff for continuous improvement in the shop.
  • Proficient in all electronic systems relevant to job function (i.e. E-mail, MS Office, Gensuite etc.).
  • Actively participates in daily team activities and meetings.
  • Follow all GE Aerospace Terre Haute policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Currently holds a state wastewater certification or must be able to obtain certification within 24 months of start date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials certifications within 6 months of start date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Operator’s License immediately upon start date.
  • Strong attendance record.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and integrity of duties performed.
  • Ability to work OT as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS is preferred but not required.
