SAIC is seeking a Principal Aerospace Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

NOTE: This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be onsite approximately 1-4 days per week.

The Joint Hypersonics Transition Office (JHTO), sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Science and Technology (OASW(S&T) and executed by the Joint Hypersonics Transition Office Systems Engineering Field Activity (JHTO SEFA) at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, is responsible for accelerating hypersonics technology development, developing the nation’s future hypersonics workforce, and facilitating the transition of ready technologies into operational capabilities. SAIC is the premier Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) service provider to the Program and is seeking a senior project officer to augment this team of qualified, diverse, and highly motivated individuals. In this role, the candidate will work collaboratively with customer leaders, various working groups, systems engineering team members, mission stakeholders, national labs, and industry to analyze, evaluate, coordinate, and support test and transition activities for candidate technologies.

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Developing technology transition plans and strategy 
  • Support and participate in quarterly/biannual PMRs/ Program Review and Briefs 
  • Support technical reviews for proposals, data calls/RFIs 
  • Participate in establishment/definition of program plan requirements, and monitoring and reporting performance to ensure objectives are met 
  • Support development of mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Nuclear), Physics, or Chemistry and 9+ years of Systems Engineering experience; or a Master's Degree and 7+ years’ experience with demonstrated 6+ years of experience in a DoD systems engineering role and supporting weapons system integration activities. 
  • Active Secret Clearance 
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Knowledgeable with Defense Acquisition system 
  • Prior support for DoD Transition Readiness Level (TRL) assessments and Transition Readiness Agreements (TRAs) (desired) 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical and risk analysis to operational systems 
  • Ability to monitor the progress of multiple concurrent and highly visible requirements with the judgment to know when to initiate needed corrective actions
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex topics and information with technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Must have experience with project management oversight as well as working knowledge of Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution processes used by the DoD 
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering as applied to complex aerospace systems 
  • Demonstrated experience in test and evaluation of complex aerospace systems

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret
  • Knowledgeable with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development systems
