Quality Inspector (Supply Chain)

Summary

Job Description

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for executing a wide variety of inspections, nonconformance documentation, and the resolution of Starship products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and profilometer
  • Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
  • Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements through eCerts or physical copies
  • Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
  • Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace parts
  • Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance with company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications
  • Use electronic MRP system to route parts and components to proper departments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of receiving, precision, mechanical, or metrological inspection experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience operating a forklift or other material handling motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
  • Experience detecting design and drawing flaws
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with GD&T and use of metrology tools and gauges
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as needed
  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to work under adverse conditions (e.g., dirty, noisy, or confined spaces)
