SAIC is seeking a VCF-9 Cloud Platform Engineer to support the Space system Commend o a program that directly assists the US Space force. The ideal candidate will have experience with design and implementation of cloud environments. The selected candidate will work with military, government, and contractor personnel to provide top-notch support with a focus on system/network security in support of national security; provide break/fix and design supporting information technology in a fast-paced, high-energy environment; provide root cause analysis and be comfortable recommending permanent configuration changes when necessary. Support will encompass design, build, secure, and operate mission-critical infrastructure leveraging VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS. This position is based at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM.

Primary duties may include:

  • Design and implement VCF-9.
  • Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot end-to-end VMware Cloud Foundation 9.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes.
  • Containerize workloads using Docker.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot workloads using Docker.
  • Integrate hybrid architectures between VCF and AWS.
  • Participate in all security processes, including security patching and auditing, security remediation, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Identify, experiment with, and adapt technologies that can better serve the customer and its goals.
  • Participate in day-to-day process and service optimization, issue discovery and remediation.
  • Conduct project analysis, requirements gathering, analysis of alternatives, testing, and deployment.
  • Author, collaborate on, and maintain project, systems, services, and process documentation.
  • Run monthly system reports and provide metrics.
  • Work successfully with cross-functional teams and staff to include configuration management and supply chain.
  • Support other activities as needed and as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field and 9 or more years of relevant experience. Will accept 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • Active Top Secret or DoE Q clearance with SCI eligibility (must be eligible for SCI indoctrination within first 3 months of start date) and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
  • Must hold current Security+ certification and obtain environment certification within 3 months of start.
  • Minimum 6 years of proven work experience with VMware.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Vsphere/VMware solutions.
  • Proven hardware/software troubleshooting experience.

Desired:

  • 6–10+ years cloud/virtualization experience.
  • 7+ years VCF.
  • 3+ years Kubernetes.
  • 2+ years AWS Experience with virtualization products.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services.
