The Boeing Global Services (BGS) organization is looking for an Associate Mechanical System Design & Analysis Engineer in Long Beach, CA responsible for the design and development of all existing and new mechanical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for the C-17 Globemaster Aircraft. A successful candidate will be capable of leading multiple design reviews, providing guidance and adding technical input at various steps throughout the design process, reviewing layouts, stress reports and drawings to ensure engineering excellence and high-quality product for GSE designs. They will also be able to design and develop new mechanical GSE for new maintenance requirements, airplane changes and customers’ requests. This candidate will also be designated GSE design focal for aircraft engineering systems and design integration with discipline application of GSE specifications and contract requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Directs the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system maintenance, test, calibration, removal and replacement support equipment designs

  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements and contract specifications

  • Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes

  • Coaches and mentors others

  • Works under consultative direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 1+ years of experience reviewing and approving engineering drawings, documents, or designs

  • 1+ years of experience with Ground Support Equipment (GSE)

  • Experience with three-dimensional parametric modeling using NX/Teamcenter or CATIA/ENOVIA methods and tools

  • 1+ years of experience in project management for both small and large projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master of Science Degree in Aeronautics/Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering

  • Familiarity with large military aircraft

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and working with external suppliers

  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or Earned Value Management (EVM)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $90,950 - $123,050
