Major duties
Serves as the lead deployment officer responsible for recruiting, selecting, training and deploying DFAS personnel on contingency operations in support of the military components. Ensures effective operation and interface of multiple accounting, financial management, and feeder systems data into the various existing contingency and permanent systems and subsystems Provides technical, administrative, and operational direction to ensure establishment of set system policies and procedures for the deployed activities, and for the solution of technical and operational problems as they arise. Prepares periodic finance and/or accounting organization statistical and narrative reports.
Qualification
GS-11 Specialized experience is defined as: performing financial management data analysis to identify issues that need corrective action deficiencies; or advising management on financial policies, regulations, and standards in support of the financial mission of a large-scale financial organization. GS-12 Specialized experience is defined as: analyzing data to identify trends and developments in Civilian Pay program in order to enhance operations; or reviewing the execution of automated system processes to ensure compliance with established pay laws, regulations, and procedures; or providing customer support for an automated civilian payroll system. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-11, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-9 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-12, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in the Federal service. ** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing. ** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Level 2 Certification under the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program as a condition of employment. If you are selected, you will have to obtain this certification within two (2) years of your entry on duty in the position unless you are already in a position that requires a Level 2 Certification in which case you must complete the certification within the original 2-year period. Failure to become certified within the required time-frame may be grounds for removal from the position and/or from Federal service. Education
GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS 12 and above: Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level. This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-11 or GS-12 with a target grade of GS-12. The minimum salary for grade GS-11 is $75,374, the maximum salary is $97,991. The minimum salary for grade GS-12 is $90,341, the maximum salary is $117,446.

You must meet or exceed the cut score to be considered. You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut score or fail to complete the assessment.
