You will serve as a WOOD CRAFTER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Major duties

You will plan, layout and complete routine and standard projects independently and more complex projects with assistance from journeymen and supervision. You will assist in the design, layout, and fabrication of custom and production wooden items. You will with assistance, design and manufacture fixtures, patterns and templates for the purpose of speed and accuracy in the production of unique items or the assembly of production items. You will mill lumber or timber to required sizes, thicknesses, and lengths. You will cut material to size and shape using handsaws or power saws, driving nails and screws by hand or power tools. You will demonstrate the ability to read blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to understand the functions of parts or systems, to plan and lay out work, and to aid in finding faulty parts or systems.
