Job summary

Major duties
You will adjust and regulate water and sewage systems to maintain maximum operating efficiency. You will collect samples and perform basic tests on water and wastewater for quality control and compliance determination. You will control flow rate to suit conditions, rate of flow, concentration, and type of influent. You will use test equipment and measuring services (e.g., micrometers, precision levels, flow meter, hydrostatic testers) to perform work assignments. You will operate a wastewater treatment plant in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Utilities Systems Operator without more than normal supervision, performing duties such as: 1) Disassembling, repairing and rebuilding component parts of plant machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation the mechanisms 2) Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, oral and written instructions; and 3) Using measuring and test equipment (e.g. micrometers, flowmeter fluid, precision levels) to ensure proper treatment of waste water. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. WG-10: This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Utilities Systems Operator without more than normal supervision, performing duties such as: 1) Interpreting and applying the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop drawings, and blueprints; 2) Using and operating equipment and tools needed to ensure proper operation of systems; and) Applying shop mathematics sufficiently to perform assignments. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
