Major duties
Provides services and resolves issues and procedural problems related to supply, distribution, and transportation operations, including Emergency Supply Operations. Handles emergency requisitions requiring special handling, accelerated delivery, and other expediting actions that do not follow established patterns in order to meet customer needs. Coordinates actions with transportation, production, contracted carriers, and other supply units to ensure material departs on time and arrives at the proper destination. Utilizes various logistics information, tracking systems, and automated supply systems to identify trends and recommend solutions. Answers a variety of customer inquiries related to order statuses, damaged or discrepant shipments, special handling requirements, mode of shipment, shelf-life, and stock substitution.
Qualification
To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Analyzing discrepancies to prevent recurrence related to supply distribution systems. Using packing manuals and specifications to determine materials and techniques to preserve contents. Applying safety rules and regulations applicable to equipment operation in a warehouse environment. B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that regularly require walking, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, lifting and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Required to wear safety shoes and other appropriate safety equipment when operating MHE and performing day-to-day tasks. On occasion, climb ladders, work on safety pallets. lift objects, crawl, and/or enter restricted areas. Work frequently requires handling items weighing up to 40 pounds. If moving or-lifting 40 pounds or more, obtain assistance from co-workers and/or utilize lifting devices. Work Environment Work is preformed within a warehousing environment. Work is usually performed inside in areas that are hot, cold, or damp; but may also involve working in outside storage areas. Individual may be exposed to dusty, dirty or greasy conditions. Individual may be exposed to the possibility of electrical shock (AC or DC), cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions and broken bones from falls or falling items. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, or as directed by the supervisor.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
