You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SHIPS PROGRESSMAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF, Detachment Guam.

Major duties

You will plan, assign and direct work, training subordinates, initiating personnel request, enforcing disciplinary regulations. You will ensure good housekeeping practices and providing oversight for production work on ship repair, and/or any other radiological controlled operations. You will plan the use of subordinate worker's equipment, facilities, and materials on a day-to-day, week-to-week or month-to-month basis. You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. You will determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects, determine how many assignments can be accomplished concurrently, which ones may be delayed. You will counsel employees on problems and resolves minor informal complaints through discussions with employee and union representatives. You will follow and enforcing all established safety rules and requirements.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE 1. ability to direct and oversee the planning, scheduling and execution of nuclear production work applicable to ship availability. 2. the planning, scheduling and execution of nuclear production work in conjunction with the overhaul, repair, modification and conversion of naval nuclear ships. 3. ability to supervise and manage production workers and project management teams.4. technical specification, quality control and assurance procedures, test requirement, inspection and radiological priorities and policies. 5. technical specifications and understand work practices associated with the overhaul, repair, modification of Nuclear Ships. You must have experience in one or more of the following trades: marine machinery, pipefitter, insulator, fabric worker, painter, electrician or calibration. Additional Information: Incumbent makes regular and frequent visits to industrial work areas such as shops, piers, dry docks, and onboard ships and submarines. Work requires intermittent heavy exertion, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, cramped work positions, visual acuity, close eye-hand coordination, depth perception, color vision and analysis by ear. The incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. To ensure employee safety and health, the PHNSY&IMF Detachment Guam maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personnel protective equipment and medical surveillance. As part of the medical surveillance programs, the incumbent may be required to take medical examinations to evaluate his or her medical qualification for duty involving work with these agents chemicals, etc. To ensure employee safety and health, the Detachment maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personnel protective equipment, and medical surveillance. As part of the medical surveillance programs, the incumbent may be required to take medical examinations to assess his or her medical qualification for duty involving work with these agents.
