You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR PRODUCTION MANAGER in the Nuclear Production Manager Division (Code 300N), Production Resource Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will be responsible for the nuclear aspects of overhaul, refueling and core loading projects of concerns to the department. You will participate in the overall shipyard management, contributing to considerations of major policies, plans, programs, operations resource requirements and their implementation. You will provide extensive technical, administrative and managerial aspects with the nuclear production programs and the interrelated effects of the performances of these on the overall Shipyard production capability and efficiency. You will resolve problems, make commitments, plan, supervise and manage the production nuclear programs. You will participate with key-level personnel in other departments, other naval installations, and shipyards and/or other activities in defining project goals and in the development of master plans or the accomplishment of these goals. You will direct and manage the analysis of support requirement essential to effective performance of the programs. You will develop changes, modifications or new procedures to implement these changes in nuclear requirements. You will develop, establish and promulgate policies and plans for the production nuclear programs including organization, budget, staffing and determination, acquisition and allocation of resources. You will perform long-range, intermediate and immediate planning for nuclear production projects. You will monitor the accuracy and adequacy of support provided by other Shipyard departments, and take or recommend action to improve effectiveness. You will assure equality in determining qualifications, selections, assignment, training, promotions, details, discipline and awards to employee.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with quality control, nuclear training, radiological controls radiation exposure reduction, engineering support, and work management principles; Experience with planning and directing programs, managing an organization and people in the attainment of program objectives; Experience with developing, establishing and promulgating policies and plans for the production nuclear programs including organization, budget, staffing and determination, acquisition and allocation of resources; Experience with conducting investigations of potential or existing problems affecting nuclear production operations; Experience with the management and executive control of surface craft, submarine, or carrier availabilities.
