You will serve as a SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE VICTIM ADVOCATE in the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Manpower & Reserve Affairs, Office of Force Resiliency of NAVAL AIR STATION LEMOORE.
Major duties
You will provide immediate, confidential, and non-clinical crisis intervention and trauma-informed advocacy to victims of sexual assault. You will develop comprehensive safety plans and manage all aspects of a victim's case in accordance with DoD policies and certification standards. You will guide victims through securing medical treatment, psychological support, and legal protection, ensuring they understand all available options. You will establish and maintain professional working relationships with commanders, legal personnel, law enforcement, and medical providers to ensure a coordinated response. You will apply an expert understanding of Restricted and Unrestricted reporting options and the Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) to advocate for the victim's needs.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing confidential, non-clinical, trauma-informed advocacy and immediate crisis intervention for victims of sexual assault, ensuring their safety and well-being; 2) Managing comprehensive victim cases from initial report through long-term follow-up, including the proper handling of official documentation (DD Form 2910) and the maintenance of confidential case files; 3) Developing individualized safety plans, performing trauma-informed assessments, and guiding victims in securing necessary medical, psychological, and legal support services; 4) Collaborating and coordinating with a network of internal and external stakeholders, including commanders, legal personnel, law enforcement, and medical providers, to ensure a comprehensive and victim-centered response; and 5) Applying thorough knowledge of DoD and service-specific SAPR policies and regulations, including Restricted and Unrestricted reporting options, to provide accurate information and support. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required specialized experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position OR Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree.
