You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Safety and Occupational Health Office of NAVAL STA NT RI.
Major duties
You will coordinate safety matters with other activities such as medical, fire prevention, procurement, etc. to provide adequate control of safety and health hazards. You will coordinate long-term studies of unsafe work conditions. You will ensure local safety instructions and guidance are in compliance and align with higher headquarters guidance and NAVOSH requirements. You will plan inspections, reviews work processes, practices and conditions characteristic to the site to be inspected and studies historical data from previous inspections. You will identify hazards and undesirable operational conditions.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serves as a safety consultant to all levels of management of the serviced organization; 2) Evaluates safety meetings and training conducted and recommends appropriate actions to eliminate unsafe conditions/practices; 3) Provides technical safety training to workplace employees using a variety of materials, publications and visual aides; and 4) Prepares local safety instructions and guides that are relevant to current or planned operations. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
