About the position: The primary purpose of this position is responsible for assisting other specialists in the operation and maintenance of the Frame, Graphics, and Wood Shop located in the Arts & Crafts Center of the 35th Force Support Squadron Misawa AB. This is a FLEX category position; guaranteed ZERO hours per week. Military Spouse Preference IS NOT lost if selected for this position.

Major duties

Assists customers in taking custom framing, graphic, and wood orders; while demonstrating the basic techniques of custom framing, graphics, and wood projects. Operates a variety of tools and equipment to include but not limited to: computerized engraver, heat press, power tools, glass cutter, mat cutter, stapler, vacuum press, small hand tools. Informs patrons of safety rules and ensures they are followed by demonstrating safe working techniques. May instruct safety classes. Maintains equipment and basic housekeeping order in the facility. May assist with monthly inventory, restocking merchandise and purchase ordering. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. May on occasion shovel snow from sidewalks and put down ice melt. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly and accurately in English. Must be able to solve simple arithmetic problems and read a tape measure. Subject to metal and wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns, and bruises. Condition(s) of Employment: Must be physically able to list and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.

Education
