About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

Major duties

Serve as the Social Media/Web Content Manager for the Fort Drum Public Affairs Office. Support the Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division staff in developing messaging and content online, in social media and the blogosphere. Provide video and photo support to cover events in and around Fort Drum for use in DoD, Army and Fort Drum social networking platforms. Responsible for researching and implementing new platforms as they become available.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: applying policies and procedures related to communications and media; assisting with online video and photography campaigns for social media platforms; researching and/or implementing emerging technologies to assist in public relations platforms such as live streaming. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Communications, Broadcasting and Mass Communication, Online Broadcasting and Mass Communication, Broadcast and Digital Journalism, Strategic Communication, Communications Photography, Graphic design, Marketing or Public Relations. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
