You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST within NAVSAFECOM.
Major duties
You will work closely with the Public Affairs Officer and Command Subject Matter Experts to glean trend and hazard information from complex internal command and external analysis studies. You will create visual representations of strategic messaging to clarify complex issues. You will work with Directors to determine and communicate common trends from fleet assessment visits. You will develop both in-depth and researched products as well as simplified briefs and understands when each is appropriate for the particular topic and stakeholder. You will assist all Directorates in writing and updating safety risk policy and guidance to ensure the material is thorough and yet concisely written and easily understandable. You will assist the Public Affairs Officer in the implementation of strategic communications plans which link directly to the strategic messaging developed and aligned to command priorities and derived from data analysis.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing strategic-level communications products such as talking points, articles and guidance documents for senior or executive leaders and other external audiences. 2) Developing and implementing strategic communication plans aligned with organizational goals, priorities or campaigns. 3) Preparing briefing materials, talking points or presentations for senior leaders to use in key leader engagements and other external audiences. 4) Working with subject matter experts, leaders or cross-functional teams to develop relevant and aligned messaging. 5) Identifying and extracting key issues and trends from complex information and converting them into actionable communications products. 6) Translating technical, operational, or analytical information into clear, understandable written and visual products for broad, non-technical audiences. 7) Creating or coordinating visual communication products, such as infographics, graphics and images, slide decks, charts, graphs or web-based content, using standard office, presentation or design software. 8) Supporting public affairs efforts for Navy, Marine Corps, DoD, or other large, complex organizations.
