Job summary
You will serve as a Marine Transportation Specialist in the MSCREP PEARL HARBOR of MSCREP PEARL HARBOR.
Major duties
You will coordinate activities and direct the movements of MSC controlled ships within the mid-Pacific operational area. You will develop and recommend improved management techniques. You will draft naval messages and correspondence as required. You will exercise cognizance over all MSC shipping and transportation matters You will review Logistic Requirements (LOGREQ/PREREP) messages originated by inbound ships to determine required port services and other support that may be required. You will maintain liaison with ship's Masters and their department heads to ascertain emergent requirements while in port and determine schedules and requirements for ship departures.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with Combat Logistics Force (CLF) operations, dry cargo and liquid cargo operations, and special mission and prepositioning operations as the situation dictates. Experience with regulatory and operational guidelines appropriate to ship and terminal operations as promulgated by both U.S. and foreign governments. Experience working with the types of port services commonly provided to merchant ships and naval auxiliaries that can affect the ordering and scheduling of those services. Experience working to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments to identify, analyze, and resolve marine transportation problems. Experience utilizing a variety of computer information systems and software programs including timeline/scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, database and the Naval Message Format. Experience presenting written and oral communications sufficient to prepare and present findings on complex issues by making oral presentations before groups including senior military officers and senior civilians.
