About the position: These positions are Non-appropriated Fund (NAF). Employee may be placed at Ramstein or Vogelweh Bowling Center. This position is ineligible for logistic support. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of limited maintenance work within a bowling facility. Heavy physical effort is required in frequent lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, and in using heavy hand tools and operating equipment.

Major duties

Cleans, oils, and polishes the bowling lanes and lane approaches adhering to established standards. Sweeps, dusts, and cleans other areas of the bowling facility; collects and removes trash; and maintains all areas in a clean and orderly fashion. Hand sands and varnishes minor flaws in lanes until surface can be conditioned. Makes minor corrective adjustments to bowling lane machinery as necessary and performs periodic minor preventive maintenance on automatic pinsetter and mechanical equipment. Maintains stock levels and records on spare parts for automatic pinsetter and mechanical equipment. Advises bowling facility management of unusual maintenance problems. Continual care and attention must be exercised to prevent accidents because of the nature of the duties and the kind of equipment used. Supervisor provides oral or written work instructions. Independently completes work assignments. Detailed instructions or continual supervision is not provided for most duties, however, supervisor is available for special work assignments. Works indoors in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Special care is required to avoid serious injuries. Requires caution in working with moving parts during operation of equipment. Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
