About the Position: This position is located at Headquarters U.S. Africa Command, Headquarters Commandant Facilities Management Office, Stuttgart, Germany. The incumbent serves as a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator), responsible for transportation, logistics support, and facility maintenance.

Major duties

The incumbent of this position will serve as a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operator) for US Africa Command, Chief of Staff, Office of Shared Services. Responsible for the execution of general laborer duties and responsibilities, to include, moving, assembling, re-arranging or adjusting furnishings, computer equipment and materials. Operate vehicles such as pick-up trucks, sedans and station wagons weighing up to 10,000 pounds, to transport bulk materials, and/or passengers on and off the installation. Perform basic painting and carpentry duties as directed to construct/fabricate or repair office spaces and common areas; perform specifically assigned tasks, e.g., removing floor tile or carpet, insulation, paint, wall mounted fixtures, etc.

Term Appointment NTE 3 years - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. The physical effort requires stooping, bending, kneeling, standing, climbing and working in uncomfortable positions. Working Conditions: The majority of the work is located inside. Incumbent is subject to injury when lifting or moving furniture and other equipment or while using tools during repair and maintenance work. Incumbent will likely be exposed to dust and other conditions inherent in cleaning assignments. Incumbent could come in accidental contact with hot and cold water, cleaning compounds during cleaning operations.
