Major duties

Serves as specialist within the Collaboration Branch (J64BCB), Telecommunications Operations Division (J64BC), Enterprise Information Systems (J64) of DLA Information Operations (J6). Performs as the technical specialist for Voice and Video Collaboration and data communications interface between the Collaboration branch and the local area network (LAN). Responsible for providing updates and improvements to Collaboration program operations; develops, documents, briefs and justifies recommended solutions and/or program improvements. Provides and oversees the full range of local site user/customer Collaboration support services and identifies, isolates, and resolves device and site connectivity problems. Works with IT supervisor to provide technical control and user/operational personnel to ensure VTC end points and Classified and Unclassified network interfaces function properly.

Qualification

To qualify for an IT Specialist (NETWORK), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: -Performs technical and analytical work in the planning, development, integration, utilization, or modification of Collaboration network infrastructure, systems, devices, facilities, and procedures in support of Voice and Video Services, including emergency E911 solutions. -Analyzes network requirements and maintains network architecture, including configuration and optimization of communications and data networks by analyzing workload and monitoring capacity and performance. -Coordinates hardware and software system changes to site Endpoints, monitors hardware upgrades and refreshes, and conducts Collaboration and E911 system tests prior to installation to minimize operational impact. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
