The Joint Staff J6, Deputy Director for Command and Control, Computer, Communication/Cyber (C5) Integration, Architecture Integration Division (AID) is responsible for development of Warfighting Mission Area (WMA) integrated architectures and to provide a comprehensive, discoverable, accessible, reusable, and authoritative database accessible to the Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise for architecture development and analysis, joint mission thread development from the tactical to strategic level, and architecture analysis support for capability development, assessments, acquisition and Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) processes.

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will serve as a senior staff action officer and adviser providing guidance on policy, procedures, technology systems, and federal programs in support of the Joint Staff records, research, and content operations and programs.
Major duties
As a INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the Joint Staff point of contact for assigned information management program area. Directs the development, staffing, coordination, and promulgating of information management specific issuances. Develops strategies for achieving information management goals and objectives for assigned program area. Analyzes and evaluates new approaches and methodologies proposed by the academic, industrial, defense and other government agencies for possible inclusion in Joint Staff information management plans and programs. Reviews congressional legislative proposals involving federal or DOD and military services guidelines. Recommends change to proposed and existing policy. Produces reports and visualizations from data analytics to facilitate decision-making process. Determines technology solutions to solve business problems and champion organizational change.
Qualification
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Manages the full records lifecycle, from creation and classification to retention and disposition, for both physical and electronic records; Specializes in electronic records management, utilizing applications like SharePoint and Purview for digital preservation, metadata taxonomy, quality control, and applying retention schedules; Implements data governance and oversees the secure handling of physical records, including classified/special materials in storage and offsite locations; Employs project management, risk assessment, and analytical methods to improve information management processes and assist in implementing organizational change; Effectively conveys complex technical information, provides training, and interacts with cross-functional teams and senior DoD/Combatant Command officials. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
