***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a HEALTH TECHNICIAN in the INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE PROGRAM OFFICE (IHPO) of US NMRTC YOKOSUKA JA.
Major duties
You will serve as a principal coordinator for various programs such as workplace monitoring, maintenance, calibration and consumables. You will establish contacts, mechanisms, and procedures to coordinate and obtain the required monitoring. You will conduct or participate in pre-sampling conference with management and employee representatives to explain the nature and scope of sampling. You will plan, coordinate and conduct complete sampling evaluations of work operations involving potentially hazardous environmental conditions and provide written documentation of work. You will manage equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair programs within the Industrial Hygiene Program Office (IHPO). You will use the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness -Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) and internal databases to track equipment calibration and provide equipment replacement recommendations to regional Industrial Hygiene (IH) team. You will assess industrial ventilation systems using direct read instrumentation and accurately document those evaluations in support of the IH Survey process. You will create EPRC packages to obtain the necessary sampling and test equipment to complete the mission.
Qualification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, coordinating and conducting sampling evaluations and extracting relevant data; assisting with Exposure Monitoring Plans (EMP); AND writing technical briefs, procedures, sampling surveys or instructional outlines in support of the installation's industrial health program. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
