AFRL is responsible for executing Air Force strategic development planning and leading operational experimentation to support the SECAF & CSAF in strategic decisions meeting current and future AF needs. As a key strategic financial specialist, this position will look at integrating and streamlining business practices across AFRL, to provide full life-cycle decision support across Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE). Position duties include but are not limited to: Supports enterprise and mission priorities at all levels as a Financial Specialist within AFRL/FM Researches & analyzes information related to budget formulation & execution, financial analysis, governance, operations, cost analysis, accounting, & program control. Performs a variety of tasks in support of the DoD planning, programming, budgeting & execution of programs. Executes budget, cost analysis, & financial analysis studies & projects to develop analytical, judgment, procedural & technical skills. Processes execution documents, performs review of funding & ensures availability of funds before incurring commitment/obligation. Performs tasks supporting budget formulation, execution & cost analysis. Uses automated FM databases & systems to extract data, identify & resolve system problems, & maintain data integrity. Properly advises Program Analysts on funding execution & ensures transactions are in compliance with authorized policies & procedures. Carries out special assignments designed to facilitate the full use of & enhance employee's training & development. Prepares supporting documentation for FIAR audit trail. Compiles & analyzes financial information from documents, databases, & other electronic records. Supports all aspects of the DoD planning, programming, budgeting & execution of programs. Utilizes financial systems to perform analysis & resolve accounting issues &/or errors. Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, & abilities to effectively & efficiently provide advisory services on FM issues to internal/external customers.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. To qualify for this position, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 broadband. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
