Job summary

Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees. The duty station of these positions will be assigned at the time of a job offer, and pay will be set in accordance with the duty station. Any on-site requirements will be determined by the duty station assigned upon selection.

Major duties

Provides administrative support for office records/files disposal, initiate purchase requests, and serves as Government Purchase Card holder to acquisition training, supplies, and equipment. Establish controls and suspense dates and follow up to ensure that required actions and responses are completed within deadlines. Provide input to the annual budget submission for the next fiscal year budget requirements. Assist in analyzing statistical and narrative data in order to improve efficiency of the administrative processes in the organization. Develop or revise policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), directives, etc. Conduct special projects throughout the organization using established methods of gathering and tracking data, doing flow chart analysis, trend analysis, identifying and resolving issues. Provides timely and reliable managerial, administrative and pay support to improve service to customers.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-11 grade level, applicants must minimally have: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience at the GS-11 level is defined as: assisting in the performance of data analysis and evaluation of financial systems, policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the continuity of a financial organization's business operations; providing financial management knowledge to leadership in order to assist with the organization's core mission. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-11, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-9 or higher in the Federal service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. The percentage of the education and experience which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position.
