Job summary

You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Public Works Department at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD FAR EAST. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below. *** This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Major duties

You will determine organizational goals and objectives to promote pollution prevention. You will develop and implement the Environmental Management System (EMS). You will conduct inspections of tenant commands to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and the EMS. You will conduct formal and informal training for an organization on maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.

Qualification

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: provide technical expertise managing multiple environmental media programs (i.e. Environmental Management System (EMS), Environmental Quality Assessment (EQA), Internal Assessment Program (IAP); and serve as advisor and consultant on environmental projects, studies, tests, or programs. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
