You will serve as an Emergency Dispatcher in the Provost Marshal Office of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Major duties
You will confirm the location and type of emergency (e.g., type of fire, medical emergency, vehicle accident) to dispatch manpower and vehicles required for the situation. You will monitor the status of emergency services and personnel to determine the availability of fire, medical, and police response units. You will explain information to emergency personnel (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical services [EMS], fire personnel) to dispatch personnel to the reported incident. You will use a dispatch communication software program in emergency situations to communicate dispatch instructions.
Qualification
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following Emergency Dispatcher duties: 1) Dispatching emergency vehicles; 2) Performing incoming and outgoing multi-phone line operations; 3) Assessing incoming emergency calls with Standard Operating Procedures or guidelines to determine the proper course of action; and 4) Dispatching in a high volume/urgent environment. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following Emergency Dispatcher duties: 1) Assisting in performing technical and specialized emergency dispatch work; 2) Assisting in flowing and directing incident related information to and from the appropriate field units; 3) Using communication equipment and multi-channel radios; and 4) Adapting to ever changing environments and computer equipment types. Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-05: Successfully completed four years of education above high school. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
