Major duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo, CA is searching for a Deputy Chief for the Kronos Family of Systems to support SYD 85/BM (NH-1101-04, GS-14/15 equivalent). Description: The Space Systems Command System Delta 85 is a unique integrated acquisition organization responsible for delivering timely and affordable capabilities to a worldwide user base. Within System Delta 85, the Kronos Family of Systems Program Management Office (PMO) oversees a diverse set of programs delivering battle management command and control capabilities, and the enabling infrastructure and data workflows, to win any conflict in, to, or through space. The Kronos PMO mission is to deliver responsive, mission-focused solutions with direct operator interaction on agile software cadences to optimize warfighter operations. Kronos is an award-winning program with hand-selected personnel to deliver this mission area for U.S. Combatant Commands, Intelligence Community agencies, and U.S. national leadership. The selected candidate will be responsible for directly supporting the System Program Manager, a senior Space Force field grade officer, in executing all aspects of the program portfolio while simultaneously leading and mentoring personnel. Execution scope include contract and financial management, strategic planning, cost execution, talent management, strategic IT (data, platform, and/or cloud level) and risk management. As a Deputy Program Manager for a large, classified portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and effectiveness of U.S. Space Force battle management command and control. Ideal Candidate: Relevant Program Management experience in providing facilitation for software acquisitions and contracts to include, but not limited to market research, requirements development, acquisition strategy development, source selection execution, training, agile performance management, and portfolio tracking. - Software development program management - Proficiency in classified security processes and systems. - Ability to obtain Acquisition Professional Development Program, Advanced - Program Management. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex, mission-critical projects. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. - Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process. 4. Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing. 5. Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
