The mission of the 47th Medical Group at Laughlin Air Force Base is to support the 47th Flying Training Wing’s medical, dental and aeromedical needs in support of Laughlin’s Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training mission. The medical group is responsible for the health care of more than 3,400 Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries and ensuring the medical readiness mission for wartime and worldwide contingencies.

About the Position: This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii at Tripler Army Medical Center in the Department of Behavioral Health. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Major duties

Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic interviews for service members referred to the Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care (SUDCC) and Addiction Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program (AMIOP). Utilize clinical expertise to diagnose complex, co-occurring mental health disorders and substance use disorders with a high level of clinical accuracy. Develop and implements individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for patients within the Addiction Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program (AMIOP) Serve as a subject matter expert in addiction medicine, providing consultation to command leadership and other healthcare providers regarding patient progress and fitness for duty. Manage a demanding caseload with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all clinical documentation meet DOD and professional standards. Perform high-intensity group and individual therapy sessions focusing on substance abuse recovery, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care. Employ advanced therapeutic techniques to handle complex patient cases with a delicate touch and a high level of professional care. Facilitate crisis intervention and risk management protocols to ensure patient safety and program integrity.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Counseling Psychologist (Substance Abuse): Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology (such as Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients; formulating behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations; and providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted Master's Level counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required
