National Defense University (NDU) is the premier national security institution focused on advanced joint education, leader development and scholarship. NDU is comprised of five educational institutions and three additional components: National War College (NWC), Dwight Eisenhower School (ES), Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC), College of International Security Affairs (CISA), the College of Information and Cyberspace (CIC), CAPSTONE General and Flag Officer Course, International Student Management Office, and the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS). INSS is the research arm of NDU. Housed within INSS, the Center for Strategic Research (CSR) provides strategic advice to decisionmakers throughout the Department of Defense, including the Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Combatant Commands, and Services. CSR Fellows conduct applied research in support of the warfighter. They engage regularly with DoD senior leaders. They also publish books, journal articles, and policy papers. CSR Fellows are expected to contribute to a climate that fosters respect amongst faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives.
