Overview

***This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** 

Under the supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Manager, the Water Distribution Systems Supervisor is responsible for the planning, operations, management, distribution, and daily supervision of the potable and non-potable water distribution and storm drain collection systems activities on the LOGCAP contract. Works on water piping repair solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining LOGCAP Program results in concert with and at the direction of the Public Works Director. Plans, organizes, directs and controls the potable and non-potable water piping distribution maintenance, repair, and new installation activities on the program. The Water Distribution Systems Supervisor has the responsibility and authority of the potable and non-potable water distribution system related activities on the assigned contract.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, operations, management, distribution, and daily supervision of water piping distribution, maintenance, repair, and new installation activities on the LOGCAP contract.
  • Monitors preventive and corrective maintenance work orders from start to completion.
  • Works on water piping distribution, maintenance, repair, and new installation related solutions exercising independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining LOGCAP Program results in concert with and at the direction of the Public Works Director.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the potable and non-potable water production activities on the program.
  • Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance program in the water distribution systems piping, valves, fire hydrants, and backflow preventers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Valid Apprenticeship and experience in water distribution system piping repair techniques and ability to obtain a certification in testing backflow preventers.
    • Must be able to obtain an ABC Class 1 Water Distribution License within 24 months of hire date.
    • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Five (5) years related plumbing/pipefitting experience.
    • Three (3) years supervisory experience in the management of personnel.
    • Experience with municipal Water Distribution systems is required.
    • Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Must be able to read, write and speak fluently.
    • Able and willing to perform other duties as needed, as skills and program allow.
    • Experience with Water Distribution systems composed of cast iron, steel, brass, PVC, vitrified clay, and FRP in sizes between ½ inch and 16 inches is required.
    • Previous experience in a contingency environment is a plus.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in tropical weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
    • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily form temperature changes
    • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.
    • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
