Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanic to join its team. This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.

Primary Function:

Perform a variety of skilled maintenance tasks including but not limited to installation, operation, maintaining, diagnosis, and repair of all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, cooling systems, environmental test chambers, and  related electrical work.  

Tools and Equipment:

Any type of hand or power tool needed to perform the responsibilities of this job description including but not limited to ladders, scaffolds, hydraulic lifts, torches, meters, driving company vehicles, fork lifts, computers, leak detectors, etc.

Material:

Any type of material needed to perform the responsibilities of this job description including but not limited to, all types of piping, insulation, refrigerants, paint, glue, thread sealants, solder, brazing material, lubricants etc.

Directions of Others:

Provide direction or assistance to lower classified employees or any other fellow employee who may not possess the knowledge to accomplish the responsibilities of this job description.

Working Procedure:

The following are the usual major job duties but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.

1. Contact management, engineering, suppliers, or equipment manufactures to obtain work orders, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, manufacturer’s specifications, catalogs, and oral or written instructions to perform the tasks required for this job. Verify information and report any discrepancy to management.

2. Operate, maintain, and repair all equipment related to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration systems.

3. Modify and repair associated piping/tubing by bending, cutting, threading, soldering, brazing or gluing.

4. Analyze and repair electrical circuits and electronic malfunctions on all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

5. Modify existing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including Environmental Test Chambers to utilize the new Environmental Protection Agency approved refrigerants.

6. Check and adjust all systems for proper operation after repairs or modifications.

7. Utilize the computer to make adjustments or changes to the Energy Management System, enter all time recording activities and maintain records on equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.

8. Repair and maintain all pneumatic and electronic controls related to this job description.

9. Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

10. Work along with contractors or vendors to accomplish the goals set forth by management.

11. Must possess applicable licenses as required by management.

12. Follow all Northrop Grumman safety rules and regulations including but not limited to lock out tag out procedure, confined space entry, wearing steel toe shoes, driving company vehicles, and other safe practices and personal protective equipment to insure a safe working environment for all employees. 

This is for an IBEW Union represented position. 

Education Requirement:

High School graduate or recognized equivalent.

Experience Requirement:

Must possess Journeyman HVACR license. Must pass a formal, structured interview.
