PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform NDT inspections of standard and routine parts, processes and purchased materials to determine compliance with the specifications, standards and codes. Monitor the manufacturing processes and operations. Conduct various types of inspections/tests on a broad range of complicated fabrications, subassemblies, assemblies and tools to assure compliance with customer and NG specifications and standards where inspection/test setups, techniques and procedures are not normally established.

WORKING PROCEDURE:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

1. Inspect components, assemblies, tooling, weldments and materials of various geometric configurations and processes as specified and randomly for compliance with established customer and NG specifications and standards. Identify and tag defective parts, materials and incorrect processes with appropriate inspection documentation.

2. Perform various non-destructive tests on a wide variety of metallic and non‑metallic materials to determine quality and soundness of material being inspected utilizing Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) testing and other NDT methods and equipment.

           

3. May setup and use measuring equipment including optical tooling, Dr. Hoflar and MAAG Gear inspection equipment, etc., where procedures and techniques are not normally established. Apply analytical evaluation methods and calculations involving complex triangulation, compound angles, etc., as necessary, throughout the inspection cycle. Analyze and evaluate actual dimensions and functional test results to verify conformance with established specifications and standards. May use Coordinate Measuring Machine for inspection if there is a proven and released program that is labeled as such. W15 can also debug motion programs for offline programmers, if required, under the supervision of QC management or W17.

4. Advise Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Production, Purchasing and Supplier personnel of quality problems and conditions, and assist in preventing the recurrence of defects by performing appropriate follow-up, inspection and evaluation activities.

5. Troubleshoot, disassemble, and repair various types of nondestructive equipment.

6. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

7. May perform similar or lower classified work as required.

This is a Union represented position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

  • Minimum of 2 years as a Level II inspector in Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

  • Experience working with Military Standards and Process Specifications.

  • Experience with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing).

  • Experience utilizing measuring devices including comparators, micrometers, scales, and calipers.

  • Certifications in other NDT methods.
