Summary

Job Description

Description

SAIC is looking for a systems administrator in Albuquerque, New Mexico who’s ready to jump into meaningful work supporting Space Systems Command and the US Space Force. If you enjoy solving problems, building smart technical solutions, and working with people who care about national security, this role might be your next adventure.

You’ll get hands-on with both physical and virtual systems, web-based apps, and all the behind-the-scenes tech that keeps missions running smoothly. You’ll partner with Active Duty personnel, government staff, and contractors to keep systems secure, stable, and ready for action. Expect a fast-paced environment where you’ll troubleshoot issues, recommend improvements, and dive deep into root cause analysis — all while helping design and support resilient, secure IT solutions. This role covers everything from server and workstation setups to LAN support, and it’s based in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. Because technology evolves quickly, we’re looking for someone who stays curious, keeps learning, and isn’t afraid to explore new tools or ideas that can make our systems even better.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Be a key player on Linux systems administration teams, working across networking and security for projects deployed on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Help integrate systems and support cross-team deployments.
  • Build and enhance configuration and automation tools.
  • Participate in all things security — patching, auditing, remediation, and recovery.
  • Explore and test emerging technologies that could benefit the mission.
  • Improve daily processes, hunt down issues, and join a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Contribute to project planning, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Collaborate on technical documents that keep our projects aligned and transparent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Technology, or related field — or 4 extra years of experience in place of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility (U.S. citizenship required).
  • At least 2 years in IT support or systems administration.
  • Hands-on Linux experience (Red Hat preferred).
  • Comfortable with Bash and a second scripting language like Python.
  • DoD 8140.03-compliant (Security+ to start).
  • Familiarity with RMF.

Nice-to-have Skills:

  • Storage administration experience.
  • Exposure to Puppet and/or Ansible.
  • Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper networking gear.
  • Experience securing Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools.
