Role Overview:

The Supply Chain Buyer is a tactical, execution-focused role responsible for placing purchase orders, tracking inbound materials, and actively managing past-due and at-risk shipments. This position works daily with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to expedite material, resolve delivery issues, and protect production schedules and customer commitments.

Core Responsibilities: 

Tactical Buying & Order Management

  • Create, release, and manage purchase orders-based on Jira request and the MRP signals and production requirements
  • Maintain open order, past-due, and shortage reports with accurate, current data
  • Adjust purchase orders and priorities to support changing production needs

Expediting & Past-Due Shipment Recovery

  • Identify late and at-risk inbound shipments and execute immediate recovery actions
  • Drive suppliers to provide firm commit dates and recovery plans
  • Coordinate partial shipments, alternate sourcing, or premium freight as required
  • Escalate critical shortages with clear impact, options, and recommendations

Inbound Logistics Coordination

  • Work directly with logistics teams, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure shipment execution
  • Resolve missed pickups, transit delays, documentation errors
  • Track shipments from supplier dock through receipt

Production & Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound constrained material and provide availability
  • Communicate material status, shortages, and recovery plans to planning and operations

Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track supplier delivery performance and support corrective actions
  • Identify recurring issues impacting on-time delivery and material flow

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of tactical buying, expediting, or supply chain operations experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience.
  • Strong follow-up, prioritization, team player with a strong sense of urgency
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience supporting high volume, ability to be proactive. ERP system knowledge

Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
