As a Supply Chain Business Operations Compliance Specialist – Level 5, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position allows for FT remote work.
This position is the Space Sector’s lead authority for Commercial Item Determinations (CIDs). The role is responsible for evaluating, approving, and governing all CID packages across the sector to ensure compliance with FAR and DFARS requirements.
Sitting within the Space Global Supply Chain Regulatory Compliance Group, this role provides sector-wide oversight and consistency for commercial item strategy. The individual partners closely with Programs, Buyers, Subcontract Administrators (SCAs), Buyer Managers, Contracts, and Legal to ensure that CID packages are complete, defensible, and audit-ready.
In addition to CID ownership, this role supports broader regulatory and compliance activities, including audit support, supplier risk management, and enterprise regulatory initiatives.
In this job, you will:
Serve as the Space Sector lead for all Commercial Item Determinations
Evaluate CID packages for FAR and DFARS compliance, sufficiency, and audit defensibility
Provide authoritative guidance on:
FAR 2.101 commercial item definitions
FAR 12 and FAR 15 interplay
DFARS commercial item and pricing requirements
Partner with Programs, Buyers, SCAs, and Buyer Managers to ensure CID packages are complete, accurate, and properly supported
Establish and maintain sector standards, templates, and guidance for CID development
Act as the sector escalation point for complex or high-risk commerciality questions
Support DCMA, DCAA, CPSR, and internal audits related to commercial item determinations
Participate in supplier risk management and regulatory compliance initiatives within GSC
Contribute to training and education across the sector on commercial item policy and practice
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure sector processes remain current with evolving FAR/DFARS guidance
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years in Business, Supply Chain, Law, Finance, or related field – OR - Master’s degree and 10+ years experience
6+ years of experience in government contracting, supply chain compliance, pricing, or contracts
Deep working knowledge of FAR and DFARS, particularly:
FAR 2.101
FAR Parts 12 and 15
DFARS commercial item and pricing provisions
Demonstrated experience developing or reviewing Commercial Item Determinations
Strong ability to interpret regulations and apply them to real-world procurement scenarios
Experience supporting audits and regulatory inquiries
Exceptional communication skills for cross-functional engagement with Programs, Supply Chain, Contracts, and Legal
Ability to operate independently as a sector authority while influencing without direct authority
