Overview

3rd Shift Opening:

The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the teams Safety, Quality, Cost, schedule and Continuous Improvement. Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for theselectedcandidate.

This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boats business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced tradesperson to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the activities of approximately 15 Steel Trades employees in the performance of preparing, assembling and installing equipment onboard submarines
  • Primary point of contact to interface with Engineering, Ships' Management, Quality and other trade departments
  • Lead the team to achievement of company goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvement
  • Take ownership of team performance
  • Assign work, provide technical expertise, instruction, mentorship , motivation and performance assessment of your Employee(s) while working aboard submarines under construction and repair
  • Lead self-assessment audits, commit to schedules and maintain product quality
  • Attend to various administrative responsibility, such as LMS, Quality documentation, work completion documentation, etc
  • May be required to qualify and maintain Nuclear Trade and PRCS training
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and travel, as required

Qualifications

Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED

Must meet one of the following:

    • 3+ years of experience in the trades, manufacturing, and/or military
    • Minimum of 3 years combined relevant experience and leadership experience in a high-volume setting
    • Minimum of 1 year EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related field

Preferred:

    • Minimum of 3 years in steel trades
    • BS in Engineering
    • Knowledge of management tools (i.e., MRP, Artemis, EWP or other EB specific tools) is desired
