This position will serve on the Deep-Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) program. As the Chief Engineer for DS3, this candidate must have a background in ground-based system development and deployment with preferred experience in ground based fixed radars. Depth of experience must include overseeing, managing, and directing engineering activities to meet major milestones while addressing technical risks through comprehensive mitigation activities embedded in an Integrated Master Schedule. The role  will report directly to the DARC Portfolio Chief Engineer and coordinate activities across multiple engineering teams.  This role will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

What You’ll Get to Do: Manage the technical development and direction for all aspects of engineering on a weapon system including design, development, implementation, testing, and delivery of product to a customer. Oversee technical content for system design reviews (e.g., System Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), System Verification Review (SVR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR)) including entrance and exit criteria. Ensure integration of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Ensure overall technical quality and performance for all engineering content for the program. Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards. Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their associated programs. Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large cross functional technical teams  

  • Experience in Ground Radar Systems  

  • Experience in Integration & Test of Radar Systems

  • Great communication skills with all levels of the team including executive leaders and the Government Customer

  • 14+ Years of relative experience with Bachelors in Science; 12+ Years of relative experience with Masters; 9+ Years of relative experience with PhD ;

  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.

  • Experience in Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)/NIST 800-53 Controls/Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Experience starting up programs/projects and driving a programs/project to completion

  • Experience with LAN/WAN Protocols

  • Experience in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Analysis

  • Experience in RF Design and Digital Signal Processing

  • Experience SATCOM Ground Entry Point

  • Experience in Power/HVAC Analysis

  • Experience in SATCOM Site Development

  • Experience in DoDAF/sysML Modeling

  • Experience in Storage Architectures (SANs, NASs), High Availability (HA) Server Architectures and/or Timing Architectures (NTP, IRIG, PTP, etc.)

  • Experience Requirements Decomposition

  • Experience in Analysis Trade Studies/Make/Buy Analysis

  • Experience in Supplier/Subcontracts Management

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
