Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer Reliability to join our diverse team in Melbourne, FL. This position will be full time, onsite.

The Sr. Principal Engineer, Reliability leads reliability engineering initiatives to improve uptime, reduce failure risk, and optimize lifecycle performance of critical operational assets. Drives data-informed decision-making across maintenance, operations, and program planning.  Reports to Product Support leadership to ensure requirements meet Program objectives.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide reliability subject matter expert advice on assigned program.

  • Review and disposition (as required) of system drawings in CAD, NX, Solidworks, specifications and other engineering technical data…includes Northrop Grumman, Supplier, and Government furnished technical data.

  • Perform detailed review and development of technical data to support development of Reliability Centered Maintenance assessments of avionics systems and complete airframes

  • Development of model for meeting MTTR and mission timeline requirements

  • Interface between the reliability organization and other functional elements of the capture program.

  • Provide advice to Systems Engineers regarding their responsibilities in accordance with the Reliability Program.

  • Will interface with other reliability related disciplines and will define the resources needed to perform reliability requirements.

  • Participate in reliability engineering reviews.

  • Create Basis of Estimates for capture efforts for the reliability discipline.

  • Conduct independent reliability analysis as deemed necessary.

  • Perform analysis of design solution reliability under provided requirements.

  • Work with multiple teams and cross-functional departments

  • Compiling reports, plans and presentations for project leaders

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 Years with Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM); 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD

  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, FRACAS, FMEA/ FMECA or related Reliability Engineering work

  • Experience with reading and understanding technical data (e.g., Technical Orders, Engineering Drawings, Parts Lists, Bills of Material, Engineering Specifications, etc.)

  • Exercising a high degree of initiative and exhibiting advance organization skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance standards without supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment with diverse stakeholders.

  • Understanding of logistic elements; maintainability, supportability, and reliability.

  • Understanding of CAMEO requirement management

  • Experience in aviation maintenance, maintenance planning, manufacturing, or design

  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret clearance that is in-scope (granted or renewed in the last 6 years) and ability to be eligibility for Top Secret

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical hands-on experience performing: Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, FRACAS, ESS, Reliability Testing, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, sparing analysis, and related engineering work.

  • Experience with or exposure to digital design initiatives and solutions to include Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model Based Sustainment (MBS)

  • Experience using CAMEO Enterprise Architecture

  • Experience with Life Cycle Cost Analysis and Modeling/Simulation

  • Min 3 years of technical experience in Logistics Engineering (Reliability / Maintainability / Sustainability)

  • Candidate must have an understanding of the either or both S-Series Standards/Mil-STD 1388 (defunct)

  • Significant experience in military, government, commercial aerospace industry (e.g. aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies)

  • Knowledge of Military Specifications, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and other related technical and contractual documents

  • Experience in completing detailed risk analysis.

  • Experience in completing Basis of Estimates (BOE).

  • Prior experience with Capture Development / Capture Teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
