Sr. Operations Analyst (Starship Launch Hardware)

This role is responsible for using analytics to provide business-critical insights and ensure cross-functional alignment of goals and execution across core launch teams, including pads, recovery, vehicle maintenance/operations, production, test, and other essential support teams. This individual will lead analysis to develop solutions and tools to increase efficiency and enable us to meet our targets. This role involves providing both day-to-day tactical scheduling support and longer-term strategic planning expertise to achieve our ambitious growth targets and execute daily with excellence and precision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements across work centers, and ensure best practices are effectively rolled out across the organization
  • Assist in manifest planning and change management activities; create feedback loops to inform requirements for minimal viable products and future proven system designs
  • Support standardizing labor analysis (assumptions, methodology, and tools), and assist launch hardware teams in facilitating headcount planning, efficiency roadmaps, and demand forecasting
  • Create reports, automated tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurement and improvement by using SQL queries and software such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI
  • Review, track, and communicate shop performance and schedule execution (i.e., shop metric boards)
  • Coordinate and review inputs from engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to support master scheduled products
  • Provide monthly reviews on schedule performance that drive down near-term and future schedule risk by conducting work-center level capacity analysis, identifying model and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives (reactive and proactive)
  • Schedule and level-load resources (equipment, labor, etc.) for the critical path scope
  • Lead efforts to uncover root cause and develop permanent resolution on issues found during product builds as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in an operations analyst, production coordination, scheduling, or planning role
  • 2+ years of experience working with information management and workflow solutions (JIRA, Confluence etc.)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience scheduling with Smartsheet, MS Project, or other scheduling software
  • 1+ years of practical experience with ERP/MRP systems in a production environment
  • Familiarity with lean principles (six sigma and Kaizen), process analysis, and design
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • Experience building data visualization dashboards with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent
  • Experience with production systems analysis, planning, integrated process scheduling, and asset allocation management
  • Ability to rapidly change priorities in a high-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience with analysis and problem-solving, and the ability to create options, cost/benefit scenarios, and concise recommendations with peers and leadership
  • Experience communicating effectively with an openness to receive and provide feedback
  • Proficiency with MS Excel
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships across disciplines and with multiple levels of management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
  • Must be able to to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Must be able to be hands-on and spend time in the field regularly (pad, bakery, and production floor)
