Summary

Job Description

The Operations Quality Engineer supports the Operations and Quality teams to ensure that quality objectives are met while striving for on-time delivery and cost management. This position is integrated into manufacturing and test operations to collaborate in a cross-functional environment to address issues and prevent recurrences of issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies opportunities and leads Zero Defect projects to reduce Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Collaborates with inspection and manufacturing to evaluate specific product conditions for compliance where determination of requirements is difficult or unclear.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts and participates in improvement projects lead by others using trend analysis and RCCA tools.
  • Develop and maintain control plans within areas of responsibility.
  • Validates first article inspection execution and documentation within areas of responsibility.
  • Provides internal communication regarding acceptance testing issues.  Interfaces with test, manufacturing, engineering, and customers as needed.
  • Mentors engineers within the Quality organization.
  • Completes risk assessments and validation plans for planned changes.
  • Supports off-shift and weekend coverage as needed.
  • Be able to move & lift 30 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in a quality-related discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding and practical application of quality tools including RCCA, control charts, control plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Experience with establishing and reviewing Quality requirements.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient use of MS Office Suite.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience with electronics such as circuit card assemblies, cable harnesses, metal fabrication, or system integration.
  • 4 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Six sigma green belt certification.
