You will be the Software Engineer Lead for the Embedded Software team. Our team is responsible for delivering high‑impact embedded C/C++ solutions that enable mission‑critical capabilities across Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.



What You Will Be Doing


As the Lead Software Engineer you will be responsible for guiding the design, development, and integration of embedded software that solves complex business and mission problems.


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



  • Lead and develop embedded C/C++ applications, integrating advanced algorithms and features.

  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate software development activities across multiple programs.

  • Design, document, test, and debug software that implements logical and mathematical solutions for mission‑critical systems.

  • Apply deep knowledge of computer hardware and software to translate user requirements into robust code.

  • Correct program errors, produce operating instructions, and compile comprehensive development documentation.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.


Basic Qualifications:
• Must currently hold an active DoD Secret Security Clearance to be considered for this position

• BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or related field

• C and C++ 11 or higher

• Embedded real-time software development

• Hardware/Software integration & test

• Linux OS

• Experience leading a software development team through different phases of the software development life cycle
Desired Skills:
- Embedded real-time software development for millisecond / microsecond response time systems

- Agile development process

- Git and/or GitLab: configuration management / version control

- Automated testing

- CentOS 7.0 or higher

- Jira - issue tracking

- Publisher/subscriber protocols (preferably RTI DDS)

- Python

- Technical document development

- Technical review presentation development and delivery
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
