This senior-level system engineering position provides IT support in configuring and maintain both Windows and Linux baselines and managing and maintaining Windows 11 endpoints. The well qualified candidate will be experienced in providing system administrative support for Windows/Linux endpoints in an air-gapped environment without direct internet access. The candidate will also be responsible for managing and utilizing an on-prem ServiceNow instance. The qualified candidate will work closely with and coordinate the Tier 3 activities of several IT professionals in managing, maintaining, and patching endpoints.

The position will have a hybrid telework arrangement with on-site presence three days a week, at a secure government facility within the Washington DC metropolitan area. Work schedule will be Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Work location and schedule are subject to change based on government requirements.

Role can be located in Washington, DC or Springfield, VA. If located in Springfield, one day per week onsite in Washington, DC will be required.

Responsibilities include:

  • System Administrator Responsibilities for Windows/Linux systems include:  
    • Installing operating system software, patches, and upgrades. Automated and manual utilization of local repository.
    • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues.
    • Configuring, optimizing, fine-tuning, and monitoring operating system software and servers.
    • Managing system backups and recovery.
    • Conducting virtual server builds utilizing VMware
  • ServiceNow Responsibilities include:
    • Solution Architecture: Design and architect complex ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications, workflows, and integrations, to meet specific business requirements.
    • Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing support for deployed ServiceNow applications, troubleshoot issues, and manage system updates and upgrades.
    • Integration Expertise: Integrate ServiceNow with other enterprise systems using APIs and other integration methods.
    • Experience in configuring ServiceNow MID servers.
    • Experience in maintaining air-gapped instance of ServiceNow.
    • Business Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and design effective ServiceNow solutions.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 9 years of related experience.  Or a Master degree and 7 years of related experience; May accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5 years experience as a ServiceNow administrator capable of drafting complex workflows, queries and reports, as well as tailored dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience in creating business rules, import sets, working in a scoped application and writing scripts.
  • Significant system admin experience with Windows 10/11 and Linux operating systems.  Significant hands-on experience in configuring, implementing and troubleshooting Windows 10 and 11 workstations.
  • Experienced in writing PowerShell scripts.
  • Experience in deploying, configuring, and maintaining Windows client.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working well within a collaborative environment as an integral member of a project team.

Required Clearance:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Active secret clearance with the ability to obtain a top secret clearance.

Desired Education/Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 Certified Endpoint Administrator Associate.
  • Prior work experience supporting U.S. government agencies.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
