Northrop Grumman Strategic Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer for Re-Entry System Electronics (RSE). This position will be with our Payloads IPT of the Sentinel Program in the Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector located in Roy, UT.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Determine tasking for yourself and others with minimum oversight.
  • Understand and apply system requirements.
  • Assist in all phases of the system lifecycle including requirements application, design, test, fabrication, and implementation.
  • Evaluate electrical hardware performance.
  • Perform model validation through test and analysis.
  • Conduct testing through all phases.
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements.
  • Create technical reports and present technical information.
  • Lead and mentor team members.
  • Assistance in planning and scheduling activities.
  • Interface with AF Customer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university with 8 years of related experience, 6 years with Masters, 4 years with PhD.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • 3+ years in team environments with technical leadership responsibilities.
  • 5+ years in complex information systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ICBM Experience (MMIII or Sentinel).
  • Experience with SPICE.
  • Experience with TeamCenter/NX.
  • Experience with VHDL/FPGA/ASIC design.
  • Experience with Nuclear Certified Design.
  • Experience with Agile.
  • Experience with Cable/Harness Design.
  • Experience resolving issues and providing technical support.
  • Experience using Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Capable of working with minimal direction and in team environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
  • Experience developing systems in joint collaborative environment between contractor and customer.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
