Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/ Sr Principal Systems Software Analyst. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package

What You'll Get To Do:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal/ Sr. Principal System Software Analyst to join our Digital Business Enablement team. As the Business Application Service Owner (BASO), you will act as the primary bridge between business and technical teams, partnering with stakeholders to maximize application value, govern service levels, and continuously improve performance and availability. You will safeguard our application portfolio, drive financial stewardship, ensure regulatory compliance, define and maintain SLAs/OLAs, maintain documentation, and partner with vendors to deliver cost-effective solutions - enabling users to reliably and securely use the tools and systems needed to execute their scope and deliver value to the business.

Basic Qualifications:

This role can be filled at the Principal Systems Software Analyst (T03) or Sr. Principal Systems Software Analyst (T04) level.

Principal System Software Analyst: 5 Years with Bachelor’s in related field of study, 3 Years with Masters, 1 Years with PhD; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years. 

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).

  • Core Professional Skill and Experience Requirements

  • Proven track record serving as the primary liaison between business users and enterprise applications, providing guidance, training, and best-practice recommendations.

  • Experience gathering, translating, and prioritizing business needs into clear technical specifications and service-enhancement requests, and communicating roadmap milestones.

  • Experience managing or using operations management processes, service-level agreements (SLAs) or operational-level agreements (OLAs), incident-management processes, including defining monitoring thresholds, detection criteria, and escalation procedures, including participation in their creation or review.

  • History of creating or maintaining run-books, SOPs, configuration records, and other guides in a repository and facilitating knowledge transfer to support teams.

  • Experience with monitoring usage trends, conducting capacity planning, and ensuring scalable performance of an application suite.

  • Experience working with supply-chain, business-management, and cost-account teams to define requirements and operational management processes to translate them application specifications.


Sr. Principal System Software Analyst: 8 Years with Bachelor’s in related field of study, 6 Years with Masters, 4 Years with PhD; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.

  • •Significant experience managing large-scale projects or multiple teams.

  • Exposure to strategic planning and executive-level decision making.

  • ITIL, COBIT, or other service-management framework certification (e.g., ITIL Foundation, ITIL Practitioner).

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern DevOps toolchains (CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration).

  • Advanced analytics and reporting skills; ability to build KPI dashboards using tools like Power?BI, Tableau, or similar.

  • Proven track record managing large-scale enterprise application suites in a multi-plant or global environment.

  • Experience with performance and capacity planning tools and methodologies.

  • Supplier & Inter-Plant Work Order (IWO) Management: Experience partnering with supply-chain, business-management, and cost-account teams to define requirements, translate them into contracts/SLAs, monitor vendor performance, and manage escalations.

  • Strong change and release management experience, including risk assessments, back-out procedures, and post-implementation verification.

  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder-engagement abilities, with a history of delivering training and knowledge-transfer sessions.

  • IAT Level II certification, such as Security+, as per DoD Cyber Workforce requirements.

  • Technical Foundation: Strong background as a Systems Software Analyst - analyzing, enhancing, installing, testing, and modifying applications; developing requirements and workflow analyses; and establishing standards for development and maintenance

  • Performance & Capacity Management: Ability to monitor usage trends, conduct capacity planning, and ensure scalable performance of the application suite.

  • Exposure to financial aspects of application management such as tracking spend, license inventories, or cost-related metrics

  • Familiarity with reviewing service-health or performance reports and contributing to improvement backlogs.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
