The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Cloud Solution Architect to join the team in Hazelwood, MO; Aurora, CO; Bellevue, WA; Everett, WA; North Charleston, SC; Fort Walton, FL; Huntsville, AL; Long Beach, CA; Mesa, AZ; Plano, TX; Ridley Park, PA or Salt Lake City, UT.

The Cloud Solutions Team within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to support our application modernization efforts. This role will help assess, plan, and guide the migration of BDS applications to cloud platforms. You will work closely with the Cloud Migration Lead, architects, engineering teams, product owners, and stakeholders to define migration strategies, evaluate application portfolios, and support the adoption of cloud-native patterns.

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will contribute to the modernization roadmap and help ensure solutions are designed for scalability, resiliency, security, and operational efficiency.

We are looking for a hands-on architect with cloud migration experience in public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, a strong background in application assessment and migration strategy, and the ability to collaborate effectively across complex stakeholder groups.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate architecture, design, and services for cloud migrations and new applications

  • Execute technical feasibility assessments and develop proposals for moving identified workloads to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud

  • Assess application and workload characteristics to define migration approaches, including rehost, replatform, refactor, or replace

  • Develop and maintain migration runbooks, documentation, reusable tooling, policy, and process documentation to improve consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency

  • Support migration execution for selected applications, components, and supporting infrastructure

  • Implement cloud-native infrastructure, deployment, and operational patterns that support secure, repeatable, and efficient migrations

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, product teams, security, operations, customers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, remove blockers, and align on migration decisions

  • Support compliance assessments and ensure application design aligns with cloud architecture standards and operational requirements

  • Support cloud onboarding, application readiness, and post-migration stabilization efforts

  • Contribute to cloud onboarding, migration, and adoption improvements by identifying opportunities for automation, optimization, and technical debt reduction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in broad-based computing system architecture

  • 5+ years of experience migrating applications to Cloud platform

  • 5+ years of experience deploying and managing distributed systems on at least one cloud platform (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP))

  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS or Azure), infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and automation tools (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chef etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Current industry certifications, including Amazon Web Service (AWS) Certified Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions architect expert or equivalent

  • Experience in team building, leading cross-functional teams, motivating and engaging team members, and inspiring work groups through daily interactions

  • Experience migrating applications from traditional data center to cloud

  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies

  • Experience in cloud computing architecture

  • Experience in database design/development

  • Experience with markdown, Terraform, Azure ARM, AWS Cloud Formation, draw.io, Visio

  • Experience with Threat Modeling

  • Experience in DevSecOps tools such as Gitlab, Confluence, technologies, and practices

  • Experience facilitating discussions with technical teams to drive improvement and efficiencies

  • Experience with cloud native development principles and best practices

  • Experience in process improvement methodologies

  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework or Agile Methodologies

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $142,800 – $207,000
