Job Description

In addition to meeting the necessary qualifications the selected candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment. This position is based in Japan, primarily at a customer location aboard MCAS Iwakuni in support of a Base Operations & Support contract with the Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy- Marine Corps. The ideal candidate is a Japanese National or someone otherwise not requiring sponsorship to work in Japan.

Performance Location: The individual filling this position will be supporting Amentum on a contract for the US Department of Defense and working at the Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan.

Working Environment: Non-Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) assignment (SOFA dependents maintain their status). Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Contract remaining with 11 months of the last Option Year.

Work Schedule: This position works eight hours per day, five days per week minimum at an hourly rate. Traditional in-person attendance expectations (non-hybrid)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and professionally with minimal supervision under the direction of department and section Management
  • Interface daily with Subcontractors; perform inspections and audits at the job site.
  • Brief, train and assist with instruction both on-the-spot and in classroom environment
  • Understand and use contractual requirements and applicable standards in performance of inspection duties, particularly verifications. Review applicable areas of SOWs.
  • Prepare inspection templates / checklists based on contract and project requirements
  • Perform inspections of operation and maintenance scope of work, efficiently and effectively.
  • Objectively and accurately document inspection results, tests, and related corrective actions and/or preventive measures.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections on corrective actions and/or preventive measures and verify completion and compliance to the contractual requirements and/or project specifications.
  • Collect data, perform data analysis and monitor trends.
  • Prepare and provide required reports to management.
  • Maintain inspection schedule and inspection calendar.
  • Ensure optimal use of resources in achieving Company’s and Program goals
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year work experience or exposure to Quality, Safety, Administration or Maintenance processes

Expected Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to analyze data, and generate meaningful reports
  • Maximo, or other Enterprise Asset Management system experience is highly desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Possesses and demonstrates a positive focus on achieving outstanding customer satisfaction
  • Work well as part of a team and independently and can handle issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Good organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required at a minimum.

Language Requirements:

  • Must be bilingual in speaking English and Japanese comparable to a TOEIC score of 750, CASEC of 800, EIKEN Quasi-Level 1 (or similar tests) and Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) of N3
  • Reading and writing Japanese preferred
  • Primary communication is in English
  • Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and the client.

Other Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining to expiration date, if not currently a resident of Japan
  • Applicants in-country must hold their own visa sponsorship or residency.
  • Company will assist applicant in obtaining access to customer work site, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.
  • Applicant will be required to apply and be accepted for a DBIDS enrollment and identification issuance prior to employment for first workday, which will be categorized as “Foreign Gov Contr”; SOFA dependents will be required to hold Contractor Identification IAW Installation Access Control MCASO prior to employment for first workday. Contractor identification is a requirement of employment.
  • Position requires the applicant to drive in the performance of work duties. Applicant must be able to obtain (if on IDP) and maintain a Japanese Driver License or SOFA license and be able to operate a Company provided motor vehicle on MCAS Iwakuni. Applicant must be able and willing to operate motor vehicle on Japanese roads as job duties require. Vehicle operators will be subject to US Military traffic citation point system.
  • Transportation is not provided to locally hired personnel for the purpose of commuting to and from the workplace. Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation. Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes.
  • All vehicle assignments, if applicable, are based on vehicle availability, position, work assignment and where the primary operator may live. Ride sharing on and off base to residences is applicable within the local area as may be necessary.
