The Quality Control Manager will oversee the quality assurance and control processes for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Full Line Food Service Distribution for Southwest Asian and Eastern Africa (SWAEA) program. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products and services meet established quality standards and compliance requirements, and for implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and policies to ensure compliance with DLA regulations, federal standards, and food safety requirements.
  • Establish quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor product quality and service delivery.
  • Oversee the inspection and testing of products throughout the supply chain to ensure that they meet quality specifications.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular audits of suppliers and vendors to assess compliance with quality standards.
  • Train and educate staff on quality control standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Investigate quality issues and non-conformance reports, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to address quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management highlighting quality performance, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Lead efforts to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the quality control framework.
  • Implement quality improvement projects and monitor their effectiveness in enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current on industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to food safety, food defense and quality assurance.
  • Ensure all quality control activities comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Will be required to travel to multiple distribution centers to meet with and consult with Quality team members ensuring uniform processes are established and followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in the food service or logistics industry.
  • Experience in government contracting and compliance within the defense sector.
  • Strong understanding of quality control methodologies, tools, and regulations (e.g., HACCP, SQF, ISO).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ, CQE) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with military food service operations and standards.
  • US Army Veterinary Command experience preferred
